I think we're getting closer to a root cause! I'm comparing two computers (we'll call them Computer A and Computer B). I would think if the message is still being received, then Flash Player may not be working or if it was working, then the message would not be given.

On this machine that you checked, is Flash Player working, or is the message asking to Install Flash Player being given? That way we would know if any old Flash file had not been removed. You could also check the Flash folder at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash Open Flash and post back all files listed there. How is Shockwave Flash Object listed there? On this machine, go to Tools, Internet Options and click on Settings.

Some other IE versions will not list the version, but only list the Flash10i.ocx instead(which is that version) I have IE8 on one PC and IE6 on the other and they are listed differently. On my PC, Shockwave Flash Object is listed, Enabled and the version number. You probably don't know or remember if this is the normal way this is listed and I don't either. However, under "File" is does say Flash10i.ocx. That the version number is just listed as 0.0.0.1 is unusual, at least to me. Hi, Thanks, I try not to get into trouble venturing into areas I am not familiar with:-) Same with the Macs, but I do get my feet wet sometimes there too. You may want to look at this thread and see if it would be helpful. I'm not sure what affect this has, as I don't know what it was before you changed it. I am not that familiar with GPO, etc., but have a good understanding of Flash Player. On changing the adding ALLUSERS=2, I would have thought that would have been done anyway. The one I mentioned above and this one just mentioned. Now it is true that sometimes when an Uninstall is done, that due to a couple of reasons an old Flash file did not get removed. Look for "Show"(very light text) and click on "All add ons" and or "Run without Permission". That ActiveX Control would be found by going to Tools, Manage add ons. The person you spoke with was partially correct. This is the ActiveX Control and is Installed into the IE browser. Hi, What could have happened is that the Uninstaller worked, but for some reason the Installer could not Install the Shockwave Flash Object.
